INT. CLASSROOM - AFTERNOON
My students have just completed their final writing assessment so we are playing Teacher Hotseat for the last 10 minutes of class, during which they ask anonymous (personal) questions for their teacher on slips of paper, toss 'em in a bag, and await for them to be answered by chance.
After shuffling the cornucopia of burning questions in the paper sack, I draw an inquiry.
HELEN
(reads the question aloud)
"Do you go to the club?"
CLASS
(erupts in laughter)
HELEN
(cracks up)
Do I look like I go to the club?
CLASS
(unanimously)
Yes!
HELEN
What?!
STUDENT 1
I bet you wear those skirts like you always wear, but you hitch them up all short.
STUDENT 2
(chimes in)
And you wear your stilettos.
STUDENT 3
And dance like this (gets out of his seat to booty shake a la Beyonce).
STUDENTS 4, 5, 6
(booty shake from their seats)
Yeah!
CLASS
(laughs uproariously in contribution to the pandemonium)
HELEN
(trying not to smile)
All right, settle down. What do you guys know about the club anyway?
STUDENT 2
(stares at me incredulously)
Ms. Wong, there are teen clubs, you know.
(reads the question aloud)
"Do you go to the club?"
CLASS

HELEN

HELEN
What?!
STUDENT 1

Ms. Wong, there are teen clubs, you know.
How precious. My students were infiltrating teen clubs with their finely tuned booty shaking while I was submerged behind-the-scenes in the teacher factory for 20 intense hours of the day participating in mentally and physically debilitating sessions.
But, of course, we bargained the sparse free time allotted to us for frivolous fun.
Sometimes at the club.
Where I donned neither short skirts nor stilettos.
But customarily not.
'Cause we'd seek palatable comfort in smashin' soul foodie goodies.
And rambunctious camaraderie with the infamous Craig's Crushers, led by the inspiring and ever encouraging Chief H. Craig.
Were we the preeminent CMA group?
Yes.
Most definitely.
