I am far too easily pleased

"Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak.

We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” - C. S. LewisI am too smitten with the things of this world, these ephemeralities that too often detract my foolish heart from yearning for more. We truly are meant to live for so much more. I am tired of being far too easily pleased. I am plump tuckered out from settling (for "mud pies") whence God designed us not to settle, by any means. There is more joy awaiting us than we can ever fathom, more to delight us than we shall ever exhaust from a God who crafted us, cares for us deeply, and knows exactly what will fill the void in our hearts we futilely attempt to saturate with transitoriness. Lord, help me to long and live not for what is ephemeral, but what is eternal - for nothing less than God's best.

Oh and also, although being too easily pleased is not a good thing, if you didn't have the wide-eyed wonder and joy of a child at every amusing things that come your way, i'll have to admit, i wouldn't like you as much.
