Gleekend

'Tis pretty surreal to follow a show's infant stage as an ill-fated tale of singing high school misfits at the pilot's screening one year prior, to its current placeholder as the season's #1 scripted series. Though I am not the biggest fan of Glee's erratic and volatile storyline (a la Ryan Murphy) and underdeveloped character development, I cannot resist the indubitably spellbinding talent-dripping vocal performances that make the show a legit cultural phenomenon (along with its semi-relatability factor, 'cause, I confess, I was a show choir nerd throughout middle school and high school - sequined dresses, curled wigs, character shoes, and all).

'Tis been a Gleeky time at the nine-to-six, crafting together promo packages and coordinating events spotlighting the freshman musical comedy skein for the bossmen and the industry's head honchos, with hidden high hopes I'd somehow get to wriggle onto the guestlist. And I mean lofty hopes, since I am but a mere assistant on the bottom of the totem pole . So whence the Premiere Bossman bequeathed unto me in a hushed tone 2 coveted complimentary passes for the sensational shindig this weekend, you can bet the office eruped in involuntary squealing and prancing about the labyrinth of cubicle fortresses. Dignity? What's that? And who cares if it caused other assistants to oogle at me curiously or inquire if I was in the right mind? I'd nabbed tickets to the Glee Live! show!

So a dear friend (who is notorious for her uncanny ability to make eerthang exponentionally fun) and I dolled up
to put our best foot forwardinto Universal Citywalk's magnanimous Hard Rock Cafe as honorary Gleeksand pseudo Cheerios hailed from McKinley Highfor a posh pre-party where Cheerio gents catered to our every whimwith delectable edibles and libations aplenty, after which we took absolute advantageof the red and white themed candy bar (though all guests had a merrier respite at the open bar),the gratuitous thumbdrives for our manifold technological needs, and bushels more spiffy swag brimming from gargantuan goodie bags we hoarded as though they were gifts on Christmas mornbefore skippity skipping to the majestic Gibson Amphitheatre for the cheery cherry to the sundae of an evening - the Glee Live! concertwhere we sat remarkably close to where the musical action was about to unfold in brilliant succession (Disclaimer: the following view of the stage is not a close-up).The entire cast's amazing stage presence captivated our hearts and pumped up our collective energy to the maximuswhilst the choreography, sets, and costumes injected dosages of enthrallment to the live vocals.'Twas a contagiously awe-inspiring affair,as interminably trumpeted by the sold-out mob,to which we appended as giggly, perpetually grin-plastered, shimmy-shakin' teeny boppers.Though the Glee tour has boogied its way to the subsequent cosmopolitan hotspot by now, catch snippets of the performance vicariously:

God is so good! I love my job('s perks). They make up for the nature of the job description. Almost.
