...because every single day is a gift from the Lord (Psalm 118:24) whilst residing as one of the many many folks in the perpetually sun-graced metropolitan hotspot called Los Angeles!
at the Forum, then home of the Lakers, the weekend prior's home to the Maria Shriver-spearheaded We Connect campaign, a nationwide endeavor to connect low-income folks and families to supportive services and instrumental information, including tax prep, employment assistance, housing, flu shots, food distribution, and a resource fair.We (i.e. mostly Peter) were made useful as viable volunteers, as one can perceive via the following video (ever eloquent commentary credited to Jono): In fulfilling my role as a greeter by midafternoon, I imparted welcoming regards to guests a-ambling in. I reaped a hodgepodge of acknowledging nods, prudent smiles, blank stares, and warm responses in return - run of the mill stuff, really. Except when I chirped, "Hi there! How are you today?," to a sundressed elderly woman hobbling vigilantly towards the entrance, she beamed at me and replied, "Blessed. Thank you." I was floored. And blessed in return to hear her attest to God's ubiquitous goodness in her life. We really are so blessed beyond complete comprehension, non?
