'Tis that tormenting time of year

whence googly-eyed pigtailed pint-sized girls in badge-bedecked kelly green regalia roam the streets. Endearing kiddos who arm themselves with toothy grins and chirp to too many an innocuous bystander, “Hallo! Would you like to buy some cookies?”

My heart plummets at the sordid sight of such kryptonite that my colossal sweet tooth and affection for cutesy children cannot repel. No! Not this year, I always vow. Especially since those tasty morsels pack a potent caloric punch. I attempt to divert my attention, skedaddle off to the john, anything, whence mine ears catch their bouncy step advancing, but alas, they're slyer than I, knowing I shall be at their mercy whence they ambush the four circumscribing walls of my cubicle.Sigh. Help a weaksauce gal out and partake in some Girl Scout cookies, please.
