In observance of an abridged spring respite, we made a dashing day getaway to

historically alluring
Balboa Island,

home of the eclectic storefront-lined Cape Cod-esque
Marine Avenue

bespeckled with emblematic frozen chocotreat-dipped banana
emporiums

along a rolling waterfront by which to luxuriously loll

before boarding the clanging and chugging ferry

to traipse the rinkydink pier,

which is enchantingly circumscribed by a seascape of the most spectacular sort,

turn-of-the-century carnival diversions,

stoically territorial pelican kings,

and the aboriginal vista-privileged
Ruby's,

where we shooby dooby doo'ed for an expedited bite on the rooftop patio

amid salty gales and ocean swells.

'Twas a most blessed sonshiny day with a most lovely
gal pal.
